Y
I
with the pre-existing lots that were developed under 100' regulations.
Mr. Doherty interjected by stating that typically lot developments were laid out
before they enacted the 150'separation. The BO I's problem was that recently they
are looking for more filtration of the effluent so that they wouldn't affect the wells.
Anytime a variance is granted they are usually looking for a denitrification
system.
Mr. Leone stated that the only objection he has to that type of request is the
maintenance program and the additional cost incurred with those things. You get
a mechanical system, which means maintenance and failure down the road.
Where is'nothing better than gravity.
Mr. Doherty agreed and further stated that he grew up in Boston and you can't
swim in Carson Beach anymore. People say that will never, happen on the Cape.
Mr, Leone continued by stating that this request for what it's worth it is a well
and a well is a well. 'This services a seasonal cottage.
Mr. Doherty stated that this would probably be converted to full time use
sometime in the future.
Mr. Leone interrupted him and stated that only God knows when. He referred to
the topography of the lot next to his on the engineered plans and stated that his
lot was worse. if and when those things ever do get upgraded they are going to
have major concerns of their own for septic. He is not trying to point fingers at
them. There is town water on the road due to the inaccessibility to get up there.
Mr. Doherty continued by stating that just to take the other board members off of
the hoof he would like to see a denitrification system.
Mr. Ball agreed totally.
Ms. warden asked him to reiterate his request.
Mr. Doherty confirmed that they would like to see a denitrification system
because Mr. Leone was asking for a variance.
Mr-. Harrington asked Mr. Leone what the chance was getting the well connected
to the town grater and talking to the abutters to make it go away.
Mr. Leone responded that the problem was that there was no money to pay the
fess up front such as the $1500.00 to the water- department to hook them up.
They are two summer cottages up there.
Mr. Doherty stated that was why he wanted to know when they where at. He has
ashpe-wakeby to the south of him and all of the cottages down there that are
contributing to the ground water, which is going into...Will it add to the nitrogen
loading in the pond?Yes, probably. They use variance to offset the, nitrogen-
13
itr en-1
