Mr. Ball asked if the Senior Center had been inspected?
Mr. Doherty stated that he was not inclined to just grant there a blanket var'anee
at their request without knowing exactly what type of food services they are going
to provide to the seniors. Even the DPH places certain limits on them.
Ms. Warden interrupted Mr. Doherty and asked Mr. Darrington if thiswasn't the
variance request that he stated that there was an exception and didn't reed
variance.
Mr. Ball stated that Ms. r oland's fetter inferred otherwise.
IVIS. warden continued that the food code states that the variance isn't necessary.
She then pointed out that they are exempt from having a certified food manager
on site because they would be serving meals from a different site.
Mr. Harrington continued that they would be providing prepared meals from
commissary for immediate serving.
Ms. warden stated that their facility is already approved.
Ir. Doherty continued by reiterating that what he was saying is that if they met
that requirement ent then that would be true.. However, he wasn't
going to blindly grant the variance. If vire 10 grant it to what extent?
Mr. Harrington n had not been through Mashpee's Senior Center. However, he has
been through several of the facilities in Barnstable when he worked there. They
were all very well run units. He has dealt with the Elder Nutrition Program before.
All of the meals are prepared at the Hyannis High and Middle School. It is the
Marriott Sodexho than holds the contract to prepare the meals for the Elder
Nutrition Program. .
Mr. Ball suggested that they condition the approval of the variance per the
inspection.
Mr. Doherty stated that that was putting the cart before the horse and was a bad
6
5
