He was looking for a variance from Town of Mashpee BOH
regulation 56, which prohibits mounded septic systems. This variance
was being requested to allow a mounded system for the repair of a failed
system with an assurance of compliance with Title V and BOH
regulations. Mr. Mason began by stating that they have an existing four-
bedroom structure that is currently serviced by a septic tank, pump
chamber and what he believes were flow diffusers. The system has failed
on the basis that it is a real estate transfer that is sitting in ground water
and animals have dug up and are living in the system. The purpose of the
plan and it is based on ground water and mottling that it is a,mounded
system.
Ms. Warden stated that if the BOH members looked at the pert test
results they will come to the conclusion that they were horrendous.
Mr. Mason continued that they found suitable material down at a greater
depth. There is an excavation down to about 130" and mounding the
system up above.
Mr. Ball asked Mr. Mason how much of a mound he was looking for.
9
