It is all part of the study and <br /> that is what their money has been appropriated for at Town Meeting two <br /> years ago and they haven't spent money out of it yet. They are still doing <br /> proposals of what they intend to do. That is his current understanding of <br /> the situation. <br /> Ms. Warden stated that she could arrange for one of Woodward & Curran <br /> to...if they were interested in doing it. If not... <br /> Mr. Santos interrupted Ms. Warden and stated that the next water <br /> sampling should be coming up in July. If Woodward & Curran took a little <br /> extra water for the sample, the Watershed should be able to pick up the <br /> tab for that extra testing. He wouldn't have a problem with that. <br /> Mr. Ball made a motion to approve the change subject to funding. Mr. <br /> Santos seconded the motion. Motion passed. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: Smoking Regulations <br /> Mr. Doherty, "Thank- you everyone for coming tonight. We are going to <br /> start our public hearing on the Town's no smoking regulations. The <br /> purpose of this meeting is to give everybody a chance to voice your <br /> opinion, offer your suggestions. The board has been asked by some <br /> citizens of Mashpee to review the existing smoking/non-smoking <br /> regulations. The board members have discussed this item at length. <br /> Right considering everything from a no-action to a full non-smoking ban <br /> as you have seen in other towns. 1 understand that this is a very <br /> personal issue to some of you. However, we'd like to keep the meeting <br /> friendly and professional. Please address all of your comments to the <br /> board and not to each other. I will give everybody a chance to speak <br /> that would like to speak however. Respect and courtesy to everyone <br /> else, we might have to limit it just because there are a lot of folks here. <br /> Just as a side note I was just informed that the capacity of this room is <br /> seventy-five people. It doesn't look like that will be a problem. But, if it <br /> gets really busy we may actually have to...Having send that who would <br /> like to be first to speak?" <br /> A number of citizens of the town came forward to speak their minds <br /> regarding the smoking/non-smoking ban. The opinions ranged from a <br /> complete ban to formation of a group or committee to discuss <br /> alternatives and options. Some people questioned the veracity of the <br /> studies completed by the American Cancer Society. Others stated that <br /> they represented the portion of the public that could not speak for <br /> themselves. At one point Mr. Harrington was asked what his position <br /> 6 <br />
