Ms. Warden replied that what has happened is that this event was the
upcoming Saturday and Sunday. She just received them this morning. She
had to call therm an Tuesday, as they had received nothing from anyone.
Everyone was in a big panic.
Mr. Ball asked if they had to apply fourteen days prior to the evert.
Ms, Warden reviewed the language of the policy by saying that applicants
who are requesting a permit to serve or sell food for more than
fourteen..."
Mr. Doherty stated that if you are in business for more than two weeks
the BOH is not going to give therm a permit.
. Warden acknowledged that that was the correct interpretation~ of the
policy.
Mr. Harrington stated that the code changed the definition of temporary
from four to fourteen days. That was why that was changed.
Mr. Doherty said that that was fine. But, he saw Mr. Ball's point. You have
to appy at least fourteen days in advance. If you cone to therm the day
before you are not going to get a permit.
Mr. Harrington stated that that was in the first paragraph.
Mr. Ball stated that if a school child wanted to apply for a hot dog stand
for the summer. According to this you couldn't do it
Mr. Harrington replied that that was correct.
Mr. Ball stated that that was why he would like to leave a door open for
then to cone before the BOH for a discussion.
Mr. Harrington stated that they would have to request a variance to do it.
Mr. Ball stated that he would like to have that added in somehow. The
BOH has always left a door open for someone to come in for a variance or
to dispute a decision.
Mr. Doherty stated that another thing that came to his mind is that there
was no penalty clause.
IIs. harden replied that this was a policy.
