Mr. Delorme reiterated that he never did petition the DEP.
Mr. Harrington stated that he obtained a permit to build a two-bedroom
home. He had 17,000 square feet and with a denitrification he was able to
have a two-bedroom home.
Mr. Delorme stated that to petition the DEP was an $1100.00 fee.
Mr. Harrington stated that Mr. Delorme opted to try to get town water in
the development.
The people who opted to connect to town water pleasantly surprised Mr.
Delorme. Out of 54 signatures he obtained at least 35 signatures. The
beauty of doing it this way is that they were able to get the same
contractor to do everyone's home at once.
Ms. Grady asked Mr. Delorme if the water wasn't going to go in until next
year. It would have to at the October Special Town meeting.
Mr. Delorme insisted that the plan was to connect up to town water this
fall.
Mr. Ball made a motion to withdraw the original request for a
denitrification system approval. Ms. Grady seconded the motion. Motion
passed.
Mr. Ball made a second motion to require Mr. Delorme to sign an affidavit
to hook up to town water within 60 days of availability. Ms. Grady
seconded the motion. Motion passed.
DISCUSSION:
A. He has
determined that it was a federal not a state mandate. He did ask Ms.
Gabrielle Silkoski from Cape Cod Mosquito Control to send him the letter
from the federal government that prohibited spraying in those areas. That
obviously clarified those issues.
Ms. Grady stated that she went to a public health conference yesterday.
One of the topics was West Nile Virus. Cambridge has quite a plan in place
to respond to the West Nile Virus. She made copies for the other BOH
members for their review. She also presented a short little brochure that
they put out to the people of Cambridge informing them about the virus
10
