Ills. Grady explained that that was her thought, Her thought was if <br /> somebody.is going to rent out a place. They could rent out a restaurant <br /> and claim that they were in charge of this and they were renting this out <br /> for their private function and make the decision to smoke there. <br /> Mr. Ball asked her to confirm that it would not be open to the public and <br /> no one under 18 years of age. <br /> Ms. Grady disagreed and said that it was her thought that function halls <br /> were mostly for weddings and those types of events. They couldn't b ... <br /> Mr. Ball suggested that they would have a designated area in a function <br /> hell for smoking if people under IS years of age would be allowed. <br /> IVIS. Grady felt that even then they were headed down the same road as <br /> there being no protection ventilation-wise for smoking areas and non- <br /> smoking areas. They were talking about kids being able to be there <br /> without protection. <br /> Mr. Ball suggested that he misunderstood her position, He reiterated that <br /> Ms. Grady's position was that at any private function at a place such a <br /> the VFW there would be no smoking at all. <br /> Ms. Grady agreed that that was her position. <br /> Mr. Harrington stated that the exception would be that they could smoke <br /> outside. Ms. Grady agreed with-him. <br /> Mr. Santos offered an example. It would be like he and Mr. Ball would go <br /> to the sons of Italy for an event. They would have complete control over <br /> the event. However, it would not include the ability to smoke in the <br /> building just because it was a private function. <br /> Mr. Ball felt that if it was a private function that it should be up to that <br /> person as to whether they could smoke or not. How far did they want to <br /> have their arm reach into the public? <br /> Ms. Grady offered up the point that anybody could rent any place then <br /> and just stated that they were in charge of this today and allow a <br /> smoking environment, <br /> Mr. Ball felt that that was their right. <br /> Mr. Santos suggested that most of the places that he has visited lately <br />
