Mr. Harrington continued that the regulation states that the possession
of cigarettes by a minor is prohibited.
IVIr. Mitrokostas asked if they were going to change the law on
possession of cigarettes by minors,
Mr.. Harrington stated that that was how it read in the current regulation.
Mr. Mitrokostas continued by stating that the original by-law stated that
they couldn't buy cigarettes. However, they could be in possession of
cigarettes and still smoke it.
IVIS# Warden asked them to go back to the issues of the fee. Where they
going to set the fee to $25,00 or not? They would have to amend the
current regulations
IVIr. Santos asked again what the fee was at present and for how long.
IVIr. Ball stated that it was $5.00 and had been since 1994.
IVIS,, Grady made a motion to raise the fee to $25.00.
Mr. Santos asked her for an explanation for her request other than the
board just wants to. He wasn't trying to be sarcastic...
Ms. Grady stated that she had obtained that amount from some of the
other regulations. If other towns are requesting $25.00, she felt that
$5.00 was ridiculously low for the right to sell tobacco products.
i
Mr. Mitrokostas interjected that the town would get an extra $200.00 for
the year.
Mr,, Santos asked if IVIr. Ball wanted to raise the fee.
Mr. Ball telt that the fee was fine at the current amount.
The motion was not seconded. Motion failed.
Mr. Santos stated that they could revisit the amount at a later date, Were
they all in agreement with number two?
FIs. Grady and Mr. Ball were both in agreement with number two and
number three.
Mr, Ball stated that he was in agreement with number four too*
