Y ,
1
Municipal property and you don't smoke on municipal property. It applies
to everybody no matter what,
Ms, Grady agreed and added that it applies as the state law does with the
schools.
Mr. Harrington added that they didn't evert allow them to send it to council
to find out. It would have been his recommendation to find out.
Ills. Grady suggested that they rook at Martha's Vineyard. They have a lot
of tribal members over there and a smoking ban.
Ms. Darden replied that they slid not do municipal grounds over there,
Ills. Grady stated that they have municipal buildings.
Ms. Warden stated that that was correct. But, they did not cover
municipal grounds. That was the whole issue. It was not the buildings. It
was the grounds.
FIs, Grady countered that what they are talking about is the Old Indian
Burial Grounds, which she didn't believe they had even thought about.
Mr. Santos stated that that was town property. The draft that has been
ompletedo at present, states that the ban includes town property,
Ms, Grady continued by stating that seven people cane up to her last
week from different walks of life and asked her if there was or was not a
smoking ban. What were you guys doing? she knew that Mr. Santos got
upset with her when she had mentioned the public perception issue. But,
at this point in time it was getting confusing to her as to what they were
doing. She thought there was no reason why they couldn't discuss the
topic of the town grounds. she knew Mr. Ball wasn't here. But, couldn't
they talk about how far they wanted to go regarding town grounds.
Personally she didn't want to have to walk through smoke corning into a
building, she would rather have the same regulations as private business
or whatever. she felt they should make a specific reference to the town
recreational fields with the sporting events that go along with kids.
Mr. Santo stated that his previous recommendation when he discussed
the entire regulation was that any town owned rented and/or leased
recreation fields would be smoke free,
Ms, Grady added that they then added ten feet from public buildings,
floors and windows.
0
