4
Ms. Warden noted that they had talked, about it briefly yesterday, she
didn't have any ideas. she didn"t see the DPW throwing out any ideas
either, she wanted to ask the board to consider asking IVIS, Laurent to
provide the board with meaningful ideas.
Ms. Grady wanted an explanation as to what the "tipping fee" was.
Mr. Santos replied that that was the cost to dump the trash at SEAMASSO
Mr. Harrington added that what IVIS. Laurent is worried about is that the
trash haulers only have to pay the BOH an annual fee for a permit.. But,
she is busy chasing them on a monthly basis. she wants physically to
shift some power to enforce the necessity of paying this on a regular
basis.
Mr. Santos stated that approximately three-years ago a couple of
commercial haulers came in and asked it they could combine the
commercial trash with the residential trash for convenience purposes. He
thought that the board denied that request because they had to keep
separate records;
Ms. Warden felt that Ms. Laurent was being unreasonable. Ms. Warden had
done that job for tern years for the DPI . There were times when them
were in arrears for$7,000,00, Then they had to shut them down. she i
complaining about a measly $3,000.00 or$4,000.00. oh, welll The transfer
station was now their responsibility.
Mr. Santos explained to Ms. Grady that the transfer station was under the
BOH at one point in time. But, not anymore.
IVIS. Grady added that since it is not under the Boil jurisdiction did Mr.
Santos see a need for the Boil to rake those regulations that she i
requesting of therm.
IVIS. Marden responded that IVIS, Laurent was asking for our assistance
because the BOH licenses the businesses.
IVIS. Grady responded that the BOH licenses as far as the vehicles. Dight?
IVIS. Warden responded that they license therm to haul trash in IVlashpee.
Ms, Carron added that when they were re-licensing this year, she called
Ms. Laurent up and asked if they had paid up. If they hadn't paid up then
they told therm they couldn't re-license and also called SEAMAss for her.
1
