i
I
Mr. Harrington stated that the well was not functioning.
Ms, warden noted that the day that this all carne about she had contacted
a local well driller to volunteer his services to repair the well, The
homeowner was drinking bottled water and begging it from his neighbors.
She was having a conversation with the well driller when they received a
call from the police. It was past just being a grater issue. The owner had
defecated through out the hone as well as the shed and the backyard.
The house had a foul odor. Should the gentleman be returned to the house
he should be under observation. He would not be able to lige toe long in
that facility the way it exists. By condemning It he could receive the help
that he needs.
Mr. Harrington added that the next step would be for the board to make
the determination of condemnation. He would notify basically the owner
and the occupant. In this case it was the sane person. Ultimately, they
needed to notify the department of mental health. They didn't know who
the next of kin might be. Ms. Warden had done an extensive search. They
were trying to find out if there was anyone else who could act on his
behalf, At this point it may be up to the state alone as he is a ward of the
Mate. They would notify the department of health, So that should he be
rehabilitated and wish to return. They will at least be notified that the
house is in condemnation. Things need to be done prior to his return to
the house.
(Ms. Grady asked Mr. Harrington a question that 1 could not understand as
the microphone distorted the sound.)
Mr. Harrington responded that the property violations have to be abated
until the re-occupancy of the house.
IVIS. Grady asked if it was up to the owner to do it.
Mr. Harrington responded that it was up to the owner to do it.
Mr. Santos made a notion to condemn 8 Ships Wheel based on it beim
uninhabitable for human habitation. IIs. Grady seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
APPOINTMENT: DEPARTMENT OF ARMY & AIRFORCE et al
Mr. Mike Minor introduced himself as the deputy remedial project program
manager for the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence working
on the IRP installation/restoration program clean up at the MMR, Also with
him tonight was the representative form the impact area groundwater
study program to fill the board in on some of the activities they have going
L
