monitoring wells are located. some of the monitoring wells in that area
have found some detectable concentrates of perchloride in that area as
well. That was the brief overview. if they had any questions he would take
a stab at answering there.
Mr. Santos stated that they mentioned a rapid response action. He asked
what the timeline was for a "rapid response".
Mr. Hill responded that it was rapid compared to the investigation and the
feasibility evaluation that was mandated by some administrative orders
that had core done from the EPA to pursue feasibility studies to
determine ghat the comprehensive remedy will be. They had their highest
funding year to date was this year. They wanted to use some of that
money to jump-start the clearnup. They more or less proposed to do these
clean up outside of the mandated process. However, they were working
very closely with regulators making sure that they do things that they
approve of. Right now they were closing in on the determination of how
clean was clean. Primarily for the Demo one project,, they were hoping to
get that source completely remediated through the rapid response action,
They weren't quite so certain on the J Ranges or the central impact area
that the rapid response action will constitute the ultimate remedy for
those areas. They were picking away at the southeast ranges central
effect area hoping to get the source area all taken care of. It will be later
this fail they expect to have the permitting substantially complete, have
the permit in place and start digging around November ember or December, They
will probably break ground in the J Mange area probably next year if
things go well.
Mr. Harrington asked Mr, Hill if J2 and J3 flow to the right.
Mr. Hill responded that the apex of the aquifer is right around this area.
He Points to the reap.) so, everything north is flowing north and south i
flowing so. This is the apex of the aquifer and groundwater flows freely in
all directions from that point.
Mr. Harrington asked if J2 and J3, pink and the orange one to the left are
also those arre..,ones.
Mr. Hill pointed out the only ones there were.
Mr. Harrington confirmed that A and J3 are the only following south to
Snake Pond.
Mr. Hill added that there is an existing groundwater treatment system
that the have at the FS12 plume that IIIb. Minor aright get into in a little
8
