4
were making the decisions should cone to the board. He w ould ask the
board to basically invite the DEP down here to explain some of these
things because it was very difficult to explain to Mr. Najjar and then to the
hoard. The other point was that there may be some additional time since
they had just received this and some more movement could be made. But,
he thought that maybe it would be an appropriate thing to do was to invite
Brian Dudley don here to explain the DEP stance. That would be his
suggestion to the board.
Ms. Grady stated that they would tale his suggestion into account. lr.
Hajjar approached the board again.) IVIS. Grady advised him that this
would be the last comment*
Mr. Haijar wanted the opportunity to rebut a few things that were said.
They knew that there was a denitrification system than needed to b
installed before they brought the property from carbonneau., He went to
who in his estimation after everyone he spoke with had the best system.
That was why he Trent to Mr. McGrath to obviously prevent nitrogen from
going into the ground. That was the reason it was done. It he hadn't done
due diligence when they purchased their condominium and maybe get
some money taken off based on the fact that there would.some capital
expenses somewhere down the road. That was not his fault, They had no
Idea about this groundwater discharge permit. They had an approximate
Idea o what the denitrification would cost. Some of the mudslinging was
inappropriate, He felt that they needed to work together as a group to get
this done. He thanked the board.
Ms. Grady ended the public comment at this point and go into executive
session.
Mr. Santos interjected that they didn't have to go into public session. He
made a motion to dose the meeting to the public. Mr. Ball seconded the.
motion. Motion passes. He then went on to state that he was usually the
bad cop, so he would continue on in this mode. It seemed to hires that
what he had heard tonight was nothing different than what they had heard
in the past. Mr. HaJ ar was right. He was sick and tired of the mudslinging*
It was totally inappropriate at a board of health tweeting. He was hoping
that they were going to have an offer on the table. 'Then they went into
the mudslinging. It was totally inappropriate. He had said it before and h
was going to beep saying it. This was not the format to be speaking to
each other that way. They had two options. They could go back to the
original seating in 1995. He understood that they had been permitted for
paper plates and they were now using china. The board approved
incorrect design flows. The bottom line was in effect. Mr. Ball worked
bard on pushing it through. It was the best thing for Mashpee in an effort
1
