i
owner sat down were very-cordial to each other, the hoard asked questions and
everyone cane to a full and complete understanding of the requirements. Now he
was saying that he'did not know.
Mr. McNulty interrupted Mr. Santos and corrected hien by stating that he was not
saying that he did not know.
Mr. Santos asked hint to allow him to finish. Basically Mr. McNulty knew about the
time lines. He didn't have a problems, with the plans corning in late. The construction
would be delayed a month and one half or two months. What was he asking the
board? bid he want them to wait another year to recoup some more money? Is that
what he was asking them for`? .
Mr. McNulty replied that that was exactly what he was going to ask them for.
Mr. Santos stated that to tell hire the truth, based on his own opinion. He was really
coning in here with the wrong approach. He was not hying to be derogatory to hire
in any way. He really didn't care about his financial situation. He cared about clean
grater.in his town, especially where that restaurant was located with the herring run
and everything else around it. That was why Regulation 70 was in place. His ovvn
feeling right now was to deny his request. If he couldn't install then all of the
permits for the new year were going to be pulled. He didn't want to cone down
heavy on him. Everyone was all up front Frith'everybody being nice and cordial. .
They hent over backwards. Nov he was coning in front ofthe hoard and basically ,
and in his.interpretation he was being cocky.
Mr. McNulty interrupted Mr. Santos and apologized that he didn't mean to core
across as being cocky.
Mr. Santos based his opinion on the fact that he was bad-mouthing the-engineer and
the previous owner. He was denying ghat he said at the meeting. It seemed like it
was everybody else's problem.
Mr. McNulty did not feel that he was trying to pass it off as everybody else's
problem. He was certainly not had-mouthing the previous owner. He was sorry that
he had interpreted anything he had said as bad-mouthing the previous owner. He had
nothing but respect for both ofthe Mills.
Mr. Santos stated that he remembered that meeting. He re-itera ed what had occurred
and what was said. That was why the board granted them the initial extension.
Mr..McNulty stated that they understood that it was their burden. Maybe he walked
away from the meeting with another impression. But, he walked away from the
meeting under the understanding Haat if he was unable to make this happen
financially core back to the board and ask for an extension. They tried everything
within their power to run.financially sound this summer to make money. Not to just
1
