Catherine reported that she had received a call from a
Southport resident, saying that the community had contacted Waste Management, the company
contracted to handle Southport's refuse pickup program, with a request to set up a recycling
program for Southport. haste Management replied that the company does not offer a recycling
program in Masbpee. The DEP and Department of Approved Recycling Programs(DARP)
regulations state that refuse haulers such as Waste Management are required to offer recycling
programs, for a flat fee.
