"Y r <br /> BreeZy Acres Firg Extinaulshers: Mrs. Botsford informed the board that every year the residents of <br /> Homeyer Village and Breezy Acres bring their fire extinguishers to the housing authority community room <br /> on a selected day in September. The housing authority contracts with a company to come in on that day <br /> and inspection/recharge/replace all fire extinguishers. This year, Mrs. Botsford neglected to send letters <br /> to the sic residents at Breezy Acres asking them to bring in their fire extinguishers in. The fire <br /> extinguisher company has already come to do the inspection/recharge/replacement so she will need to <br /> either mail the extinguishers to the company or have them come back out. Mrs. Botsford Stated that she <br /> just granted to inform the board of this. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS: <br /> Ijealth and Safety Issue: Mr. Halpern had requested that this item be placed on the agenda. lir. <br /> Halpern distributed copies of recent newspaper articles about crimes at Mashpee Village. He stated that <br /> he met with the police chief and he is very concerned about what he considers a gigantic health and <br /> safety issue at Mashpee Village. He Mated that he believes that, since I ashpee Housing Authority <br /> subsidizes approximately 0% of the residents at I ashpee Village, vire have an responsibility to address <br /> our concerns with the management of the Mashpee Village. A discussion ensued and it was agreed that <br /> we have an ethical responsibility to at least voice our concerns. It was decided that a letter would b <br /> sent from the Board of Commissioners to the manager of Mashpee Village to ask them how they plan on <br /> addressing the came issues. A copy of this letter will be seat to the police chief. The chairperson stated <br /> that he would also lisle to see the contract that we have with Mashpee Village. A motion was made <br /> by Nor. Laporte and seconded by Mr. Halpern Laporte to have Mrs. Botsford research our <br /> agreement with Mashpee Village and, with regards to safe and comfortable luring, draft <br /> letter on behalf of board, to be signed by the chair. The letter will be emailed for revision <br /> and/or input from board members More bung sent, and a copy will be sent to the chief of <br /> police. The motion carried. <br /> Letter to DHCD: Mr. Laporte thea brought up the issue that was tabled earlier in the meeting with <br /> regards to needing to address our financial difficulties with DH D. Another brief discussion was had and <br /> a motion was made by Mr. Laporte and seconded by Mr., Harsch to have Mrs. Botsford send a <br /> tetter to DHCD requesting emergency modernization money for the extraordinary expenses <br /> e are incurring for unit turnovers and voice our consideration of learning the unit vacant if <br /> e are unable to receive monies. The motion carried. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: Mrs.. Botsford stated that there was none that had not <br /> already been addressed. <br /> The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 12,' 2006 at 5:30 Phi. A motion was <br /> made by Mr. Halpern and seconded by lir. Laporte to Homeyer to adjourn.
