_ma -W eby Lake OW3- April 25, 2
problem last year in the public beach area : Steel ramps
were put down each Wednesday at 6: 00 a.m. and the leach was
a
raked by machine. The machine operator was informed that
he was not allowed to proceed with work before 7 : 00 a.m. in
the morning. The police were called for enforcement and
will be called again this year if problem pe.r i t . The
beach area is being extended further down toward boat ramp,
through what used to be wetlands . The Highway Department
has been cutting trees in that area and continues to ]ring
in fill material.
Mr. Fritchi questions whether there is adequate signage at
public beach area. The committee suggests another sign at
oat ramp area, which would post state regulations, and the
sign should be at parking lot area or entranceway. The
current ]coat ramp sign is down and has deteriorated, plus
the hours of operation are painted over. Mr. Perry Ellis
would have legal authority in this matter. The committee
would prefer that the harbormasters enforce the regulations
at ]goat ramp, rather than a town policeman. The Waterways
commission and harbormaster will run the boat ramp opera-
tion.
The committee questions whether there will be part-time
coverage by harbormaster on the lake this year. Mr. Perry
Ellis has informed there will he one crew for fresh water
for the weekend, with trailer boat between Mahpee-Wa} ey
Lake and John' s Pond. Mr. cadrin notes it is a part-time
crew.
Noted: Waterways commission chairman Jinn Danks is now in
attendance at Mahpee-[ aely Lake committee meeting.
Mr. Hanks states that the state/town meeting has been
scheduled for May 2 , 2000 . Mr. Danks will seek more
particulars and inform committee. The idea is raised of
inviting Town of Sandwich representatives to attend. The
meeting will be run by the state on their agenda .
