l <br /> Town of Mashpee <br /> Mashpee Public Library <br /> Library Expansion Building Committee <br /> Subcommittee <br /> Interviews <br /> Conducted at Mashpee Town Hall, 16 Great Neck Road North, <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts in Conference Room #2, on Monday, October <br /> 18, 1999 . The Town Administrator, Robert Whritenour presided. <br /> Subcommittee Members present: Ernest Cole, Jr. ; Edward <br /> DeFoe; Gary Eynatian; and Grace Talmage. <br /> Also present: Helene DeFoe, Library Director. <br /> Note: Joyce Mason, Assistant Town Administrator, was not <br /> present for this interview. <br /> 2 : 15 p.m. - Powers and Company, Inc. <br /> Darlene Sterling Powers; and Paul Johnson. <br /> Mr. Whritenour began the proceedings by asking everyone <br /> present to introduce themselves. He then explained the Committee <br /> is attempting to complete the feasibility study for the complete <br /> renovation and expansion of the existing Mashpee Public Library. <br /> He thanked the firm for submitting an RFP, explaining that they <br /> have been selected as one of the finalists, and that the <br /> Committee would like to recommend a list of three architects to <br /> the Board of Selectmen just as soon as possible. <br /> Ms. Powers suggested the Committee consider her presentation <br /> as a "working meeting stating the firm has already begun the <br /> study on this project in an attempt to be as prepared as <br /> possible. She spoke to bringing forth the vision of this <br /> project, leadership qualities, and acquiring the necessary <br /> funding. She identified the most exciting aspect and largest <br /> challenge of this project to be the existing construction <br /> technology issues of the existing building, taking long range <br /> .planning very much into consideration. <br /> Ms . Powers identified the firm as being urban designers, <br /> architects, interior designers, and construction managers . She <br /> stated that she had previously been the owner of a design, build, <br /> construction company. She suggested bringing a very broad stroke <br /> to this project in order to enable her firm to assist in more <br /> ways than just drafting a plan. <br /> Ms . Powers made reference to the Mashpee Library being <br /> situated in such close proximity to Mashpee Commons, stating that <br /> she has met with the managers of Mashpee Commons in an attempt to <br /> understand their overall growth plans, and especially that <br /> neighborhood which most fronts the library.
