The cost to build ars inexpensive one would be$1200. A more elaborate <br /> model, with trees, and people, would cost $4000. The committee agreed that the idea of having a <br /> model for use as a fundraising tool was very worthwhile. Toni O'Neill agreed to contact a company he <br /> is aware of that builds these models. <br /> Melinda announced that a donation of$25,000 had been received from Eastern Bank. <br /> Dave Burton stated that The Friends will Ray for construction of a sign advertising the "Site of the New <br /> Mashpee Library", to be put up in time for the summer season. The cost will be approximately $1500 <br /> to$2000. Town regulations would limit the size of tine sign too 'X 101. Materials will also be available <br /> t the circulation desk during the summer, with information about the new library. <br /> Belinda stated that she is preparing a report to include all of her plans and activity. <br /> KRES E GRANT APPLiuvON STATUS—.lane Dolan. -- <br /> Last week, Jane Dolan distributed to the committee members by email a copy of the Kresge Grant <br /> application she has been preparing. In order to complete the application, she still reeds information <br /> from Stewart Roberts, Also, the grant requires an audit report on the finances of the Friends <br /> organization. Dave Burton is working on getting ars auditor to prepare an audit report. Jane stated <br /> that she reeds the above information in two weeps. <br /> GEOTHERMAL FEASIBILITY UPDATE—Steven cook <br /> Steve reported that he had received a quote from Water Energy Distributors in Atkinson, NH, <br /> distributors that design services and geothermal systems, who did the work on the Haverhill library. <br /> The quote carne in at $3,600 plus an hourly rate-for time for meetings on site, costs for travel which <br /> Steve estimates would-push the cost up t $5,000. The- total for the entire, installation of the <br /> geothermal system is estimated to be in the neighborhood of$250,000 to$300,000. <br /> Steve also talked to Solar Works Company, who stated that our proposed library would be ideally <br /> suited for a 10 kilowatt system. Based on total costs of.the system, his estimated cost was $79,000. <br /> With credits from the Mass. Technology council of $45,000, and another $15,000 from the LEER <br /> certification from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, our cost would be just under$20,000. <br /> Steve stated that he feels comfortable that he has a good handle on all the necessary information <br /> rewired to,Hake a decision on a geothermal and solar enemy system for our library. <br /> NEW SI ESSO <br /> Discussion of Publicity Campaign. It was reported that the $25,000 donation from Eastern Bank <br /> was covered in the Mashpee Enterprise.- The advent of the State grant, to be announced to the public <br /> on July 71h is the key fundraising event coming up. Sheldon is making his presentation tomorrow, June <br /> I; in testimony for the bond authorization. The Mate has some money now, which ,means they could <br /> possibly fund $7,000,000 immediately, on July 7. The other awards depend on the State's approval <br /> of the $75,000,000 library bond construction authorization bill. There are 41 grant applications that <br /> have been submitted for $110 million grant funds. Most are for renovation projects of a isbn <br /> buildings. There are three possibilities that may come from the July 7th announcement: we may b <br /> asked to submit additional information; we may be placed on a waiting list, or we may be awarded <br /> grant,Honey. A grant award in July would be a huge boost to the fundraising efforts taping place this <br /> summer. Sheldon stressed again the importance of publicity over the summer, especially a <br /> donations and grant monies come in. <br />
