PETI'T'ION
The undersigned homeowners of Sandpiper Village on Ryan's Way in Mashpee are
opposed to the construction and opening of Cookes Seafood Restaurant or any other restaurant
that will have entrance and exit traffic from Ryan's Way off Great Neck Road.
Ryan's Way is only a block long, but it is already used as the only access to a 26-unit
condominium complex and the primary entrance to Restaurant 99. It is located one long block
north of the Mashpee traffic circle, and less than a block from one of two entrances to Super Stop
and Shop, in a heavy traffic area. New curb cuts are not allowed on that stretch of Great Neck
Road because of its proximity to the traffic circle.
At present, cars and trucks turning onto Ryan's Way cause traffic behind them to slow
down or stop. If another restaurant were built adjacent to Restaurant 99, the demand for access
to Ryan's Way would double. Trak traveling north on Great Neck Road would back up to the
traffic circle and impede the flow of the circle itself.
We understand that the lot in question is commercially zoned property, but we also
believe that a restaurant of any kind is unwise for the location, given the established uses of
Ryan's Way and the flow of traffic on Great Neck Road.
We urge consideration of the safety of the current residents of Sandpiper Village and all
other Mashpec residents who use Great Neck Road, Stop and Shop, Restaurant 99, and the traffic
circle. We therefore petition the town to reject any request to build another restaurant next to
Ryan's Way,
Signatures Attached
