(NEW BUSINESS, Cont'd)
new air conditioner is to be installed. Ms. Wilson will ask Joyce Mason about the installation of an
outside surveillance camera as well as a panic button inside the office. Mary Scanlan stated that
in a conversation with Police Chief Rodney Collins, the general consensus was that the panic
button should be a requirement.
Janice Walford stated that the land behind the building on Rt. 130 is owned by the town, and
would be a perfect place for special events or a Food Pantry at some point in the future.
Mary Scanlan made a motion that the Committee request the installation of a surveillance camera
as well as a panic button at the new Human Services office building. Ruth Elias seconded the
motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
• Review of Human Services Department Coordinator's Report (Report Attached)
Gail Wilson highlighted her attendance at the Violence Prevention Team meeting at Mashpee
High School. Four Mashpee, high school sophomores were at the meeting, and would like to
bring "Rachel's Challenge'to the High School. Their feeling was that it would be very beneficial
for the other students. The four sophomore students will present their experience at the next
Mashpee Cares meeting.
Gail Wilson reported that the DA's office had called her again, asking her to attend the truancy
program meeting next week at the Mashpee elementary school. The committee members
reiterated their feeling that this was outside the realm of the Human Services responsibility, and
that Ms. Wilson should not be required to attend.
Gail Wilson reported on her attendance at a meeting with Joyce Mason, Veronica Warden, and
Glen Harrington to discuss the role of the Board of Health on the Hoarding Task Force. Joyce
Mason felt that it was important for the Board of Health to be involved in the Hoarding Task
Force, and requested that Glen Harrington continue to attend their meetings. Mr. Harrington
plans to comply with the request.
Eda Stepper, Human Services volunteer, has been doing an excellent job, having contacted all
local agencies in order to update information for the 2012-2013 Mashpee Human Services
Resource Guide. A brochure will be prepared for distribution to the community.
Gail Wilson stated that she will remit copies of the last Human Services Council meeting minutes.
to this committee for their review. The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for September,
2012.
Gail Wilson stated that she had contacted Tom Mayo about sending out all the contracts. There
is one format available for all the contracts. Ruth Elias volunteered to complete the contracts for
all the agencies, using the format provided by Tom Mayo.
John Cahalane made a motion that the Committee accept the Coordinator's monthly report.
Janice Walford seconded the.motion. Discussion followed.
Mary Scanlan requested clarification on the issue of critical consultation referrals from Falmouth
High School.
