BOARD OF APPEALS Minutes - November 13, 1991 3 . <br /> Friends of the Mashvee Council on Aging - Request a Variance <br /> from Section 174-39 of the Zoning By- laws for permission to <br /> vary the number of parking spaces in the renovation and <br /> addition to the Mashpee Senior Center on property located in <br /> an R-5 zoning district at 500 Great Neck Road North (Map 67, <br /> Block 11 ) Mashpee, MA . ( Owner of record : Town of Mashpee ) . <br /> Members sitting : M . Makunas, E. Govoni, J . Friel <br /> Charles Buckingham presented plans for the parking for the <br /> senior center addition . He said the new plan for 47 spaces <br /> is an increase over that currently available but is 3 short <br /> under the by-laws . <br /> Mr. Friel moved to grant the Variance allowing for 47 parking <br /> spaces per plans of Christopher Costa dated 3/27/91 , Mr , <br /> Govoni seconded . All agreed . <br /> Vickie J . Neal - Requests a Special Permit under Section <br /> 174- 17 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to operate a gift <br /> shop in an R-5 zoning district on property located at 100 <br /> Great Neck Road forth ( Map 45, Block 3 ) Mashpee, MA . (Owner <br /> of record : Richard E. Halpern TR ) . <br /> Members sitting : M, Makunas, E. Govoni, J . Friel <br /> Vickie Neal represented the application and explained that <br /> she would be occupying the space formerly used by Diamond <br /> Realty . She said she would be offering crafts made by local <br /> crafters possibly supplies such as ribbons, dried flowers, <br /> etc . She said hours would be 10 - 5 probably six days a <br /> week . <br /> Judy Mills, an abutter, read from the zoning by- laws on site <br /> plan requirements . She said retail sales was a prohibited <br /> use in R--5 . <br /> Douglas Boyd said it is an extension of a previous <br /> non-conforming use . It was a commercial use at one time . <br /> Mr. Boyd said the site is protected and it is considered an <br /> inn , <br /> Mr . Makunas asked if Ms . Mills thought it was detrimental and <br /> Ms . Mills said she considered it an expansion of use and that <br /> plenty of commercial space was available elsewhere . Ms . Neal <br /> said he had checked other rentals and could not afford them . <br /> Mr. Makunas said he thought a gift shop would be an asset . <br />
