3
Environmental Oversight Committee
Minutes
February 14, 2008
OLD BUSINESS:
Review of Action Items:
1. Environmental Education:
The K.C. Coombs School science fair is scheduled on Thursday,
March 6,2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This year's theme is recycling.
Earth Tech, the environmental firm hired to review the Zone II boundaries
impacting the Mashpee High School met with the Mashpee Water District
last week.'The meeting was favorable, and the Water District was noted
to be in agreement with plans to re-delineate the Zone II boundaries.
At the last meeting, the EOC discussed results of a study on energy use at
the Mashpec public schools and of collecting the energy data to develop a
short form brochure to disseminate to the students. In response, the EOC
received correspondence from Energy Education, Inc. dated February 8,
2008 reminding all energy managers of the proprietary of materials. The
routine reminder states that it is not permissible to share documents with
persons, entities or organizations without written consent. The documents
prepared by Energy Education are considered part of the confidential and
proprietary materials provided by them in connection with the school's
energy program. It was agreed this matter would be further reviewed with
Brad Tripp,the school's facilities manager.
Tom Hoppenstead, the MHS Environmental Club advisor would be
invited to attend a future EOC Meeting with representatives of the MHS
Environmental Club to publicize their efforts and possibly coordinate
some of their activities with current EOC objectives.
