5 <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> February 14, 2008 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Review of Action Items: <br /> 5. Grant Applications: <br /> It was agreed it would be beneficial to direct better use of the County's <br /> grant writing services. An option to employ a grant writer in the future <br /> was considered. There has been no input regarding the real estate tax <br /> credit program. The WWC will be consulted at the next meeting with <br /> respect to this regard. <br /> G. Brochures and Handouts: <br /> Work is ongoing and in process to develop brochures and handouts to <br /> support educational programs regarding conservation,environment and <br /> water issues. <br /> 8. Santuit Pond: <br /> The Board of Selectmen voted to approve the request of the EOC to fund <br /> an RFP to determine the source of phosphorus pollution in Santuit Pond. <br /> The Selectmen voted to request the Cape Cod Commission assist with the <br /> preparation of the RFP and related scope of services. <br /> It was agreed the EOC would request the Mashpee Cable and Advanced <br /> Technology Board (MCAT)to fund one automated water quality <br /> parameter measuring device for Santuit Pond. It was noted that a funding <br /> source has been identified to support the purchase of a second water <br /> quality device for Ashumet Pond. <br /> 9. Create Land Steward Program: <br /> The kick-off meeting of the new Land Steward Program will be held on <br /> March 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mashpee Town Hall. The Conservation <br /> Commission will take the leadership role to coordinate the monitoring of <br /> all Town open space lands. To date, there are 34 volunteers. <br /> The Mashpee Environmental Coalition has requested to obtain the video <br /> tape of the meeting for the purpose of making a copy to retain on file for <br /> future outreach purposes. The Town Manager will be requested to <br /> approve of the video transfer. <br />
