4 <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 13, 2008 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Review of Action Items: (continued) <br /> 5) Grant Applications: <br /> Discussion followed regarding the need for a grant writer position in <br /> support of environmental sustainability within the Town. The success <br /> of the Tribal Counsel and Sheriffs Office regarding grant attainment <br /> was reviewed. The use of a volunteer that would be funded through an <br /> abatement program was also given consideration. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Baker to request Mr. Green to bring the <br /> recommendation of the EOC regarding the employment of a <br /> grant writer to the Selectmen for review and consideration. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms. Kane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. <br /> 6) Brochures and Handouts: <br /> At the Land Stewards"kick-off'meeting on March 3`d, the need for <br /> an invasive species booklet to be used in the volunteer program was <br /> considered. A one page color brochure from the Town of Orleans was <br /> distributed for review. It was agreed the Barnstable County Extension <br /> M <br /> Service and MR Environmental Readiness Center would be <br /> consulted regarding additional material to distribute to the volunteers <br /> of the Land Steward Program. <br /> It was noted the Mashpee Environmental Coalition (MEC) received a <br /> copy of the video tape of the March 3` meeting that would be used for <br /> additional outreach. <br />
