MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE REGULA MEETING - SEPTEMBER 1 , 2000 PAGE
7. FY2001 Budget Review - Mr. McG wn reported there are
not many changes in the printout from last month. The
new computer in the business office is working out
glitches and Mr. McGown will have a new report for the
September 20thmeeting. Mr. McCown explained the new
grant spreadsheets. He saki 'the School Department nt has
applied for over $925,000 so far this year.
At this point, Mrs. Lynch questioned the outcome of the
Coombs School air handlers and the school activities
transportation bids.
Mr. McGown reported there were two bids received for the
air handlers - one from I1 ultiternp totalling $55,997; the
other from.Johnson Control in the amount of$74,800. He
said the'Finance Committee had agreed to cover $20,450
(the original quote from race) for this project, however,
the School Department would have to fund the remaining
$85,547 if the bid were awarded to 1Multitenmp (lowest
bidder). Discussion followed on expediting this project
because it would take 12 weeks in production to male the
required systems.
A motion was made by Mr. Caswell t accept the low bid of
$55,997 from Multite p. His motion was seconded by
Mrs. Lynch.
VOTE: Unanimous
Mr. Fluery will contact Mr. whritenour to discuss legal
action on the Coombs School air handler situation.
Regarding the school activities transportation bid, Mr.
crown said one bid was received from Brace
Transportation (aka First Student). Discussion followed
on the possible problems regarding using field trip buses
for the elementary schools and returning in time for the
high school pick-ups.
