MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—MARCH 6,2002 PAGE 4 <br /> exam in a course where they receive a grade point average of % or letter. This <br /> exemption from finals will be a senior privilege. Mr. Brown commended Kyle Hunt <br /> and Chris Maguire for their efforts in spearheading this concept. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Thomas, to accept the senior final exam <br /> exemption proposal. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 8.12 FY03 Budget—Mr. Fluery and Mr'. Tart ow presented the latest in budget cuts <br /> made by the administrators which brings the FY03 budget to $16,496,694. Mrs. Cool{ <br /> mentioned a department head meeting held this afternoon (March '") in Town Hall <br /> where the Selectmen and Finance Committee both will be asking the School Committee <br /> to male more cuts. <br /> Discussion focused on many areas of the FY03 budget including the possibility of <br /> asking parents to purchase common supplies for their child ren themselves. This <br /> would be necessitated due to drastic budget constraints. <br /> After much discussion, a motion was made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Caswell,to <br /> approve an FY03 budget figure $16,600,000. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 8.13 2002-2003 School Calendar—Mr. Fluery presented two draft versions of the <br /> 2002-2003 school calendar to the Teachers" Association last week. After conducting <br /> this survey, Mr. Fluery recommended the calendar which began school after Labor lay <br /> and tentatively ended the school year on June 20th. This is in compliance with the <br /> teachers' contract. <br /> This calendar will be voted upon at the April meeting. <br /> 8.14 Science Curriculum Revision, 1 -12 — Scope and Sequence ph <br /> and Philosophy — <br /> Mrs.Par lski addressed the Committee regarding this curriculum. �. <br /> After Ilrfr . Parolski's presentation, a motion was made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. <br /> Thomas,to approve the above-named curriculum. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Ix. Specifically Assigned/ 9.1 Memorial Carden—This topic was discussed earlier in the evening. <br /> Unfinished Business <br /> X. New Business There were no topics under"New e Business"this evening. <br /> xI. Committee Deports 11.1 Sub-Committee Reports <br /> 11.1.1 Negotiations—Mrs.Cook said negotiations are continuing with the two <br /> bargaining units as well as the non-union employees. <br /> 11.1.2 High School—These issues were discussed earlier in the meeting. <br /> 11.1.3 Elementary School—There has been no meeting. <br /> 11.1.4 Curriculum — Mrs. Prolsi discussed the Science Curriculum revision <br /> previously and noted the Computer Ed curriculum meeting is slated for Marey <br /> 2002. <br />
