It is anticipated this Project will be a graduation requirement in 2006. <br /> 8.6 Rowing Club — Coombs School Principal Mrs. Doyle addressed the <br /> Committee on the concept of offering young children an opportunity to benefit <br /> from a rowing club wherein students would "Row Around Cape Cod." <br /> Flowers' accomplishments will b mathematically and geographically involved. <br /> With the assistance of Coombs School nurse Mrs. Nyeand/or Physical <br /> Education teacher Mrs. Mitchell,, students would benefit from exercise other <br /> than participating in gym class. Two rowing machines will be sent to the <br /> Coombs School by Concept 2. <br /> Benefits would include entire body building, aerobic exercise, helping the hurt <br /> and lungs be strong and Muscle growth. <br /> .7 S I S /MASS Joint Conference November 12-14, 2003 — V tin <br /> Delegate and Alternate—Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, <br /> to n o m1nate Mrs. Cook at the voting delegate to the joint conference. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> 8.8 Telephone System Upgrade — Mrs. Par lski presented the tel phone <br /> system upgrade for the Coombs School and Quashnet School. It was <br /> recommended to award the bid to Carousel Industries in the combined total <br /> amount of $56,237.38 Coombs School - $28,747.83; Quashnet School - <br /> $27,4 9. and to Merrimack Communications for the high school upgrade <br /> totaling$12,070. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Lopez, to approve the bids <br /> submitted by Carousel Industries Avaya and Merrimack Communications. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> .9 MCAS Overview — Math Coordinator Joy Blackwood and <br /> English/Language Arts Coordinator Ann English addressed the Committee on <br /> the MCAS Fest Administration Schedule as well as the MCAS performance <br /> level results. <br /> .1 L!i-gh School Music Teacher — Mr. Brown addressed the Committee <br /> regarding the need for a 0.5 FTE music teacher for Mashpee High School who <br /> would teach seventh and eighth grade music and seventh grade band. This <br /> would allow the current teachers to focus more on voice class and Piano Lab 11. <br /> Motion made by Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. leis, to approve the need for a <br /> 0.5 FTE music teacher at the high school. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Mrs. Mills stressed this is not a "frivolous" position but is needed to allow <br /> improvement at the high school level in the music program. <br />
