r <br /> r <br /> MASPIPEE SCflOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR MEETING—FEBRUARY 2, 2005 PAGE <br /> Because of their attendance in the audience, Mrs. Cook asked DPW Director <br /> Greg Taylor and Joe Magni from VHB, the company who did the initial design <br /> as well as the current:design,to discuss the Coombs School Parking Lot. <br /> ,2 Coombs _School Parking Lot Update ._ Greg., Taylor --- Mr. Taylor <br /> described the work to be done at the Coombs School parking lot during the <br /> upcoming months. Mr. Joe Magni from VHB, the company that was the initial <br /> designer of the parking lot as well as the current designer, accompanied Mr. <br /> Taylor. Mr. Taylor said bids will be going out next week with a due date of <br /> March 7., 2005. <br /> 1 .1 Quashnet School Playground — Quashnet School teacher Aphrodite <br /> Purdy and PTO representative Carol Mitchell addressed the Committee <br /> regarding the future plans of the Quashnet School playground improvement <br /> program. They described the four phases that:have been planned over the next <br /> few years. The Phases would done as follows: <br /> • Phase I & II — Install age-appropriate apparatus to improve upper body <br /> strength,balance and agility. <br /> • Phase III — Resurface the tennis court, install six basketball hoops, and <br /> create a play area for four square and hop scotch. <br /> • Phase IV—Replace fencing,and create a 'A mile paved walling trail. <br /> Ms. Purdy said Phase I can begin this spring. <br /> Motion made by Mr. Thomas, seconded by Mrs. Reis, to support the <br /> playground proposal as presented. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> V111. Report of the Mrs. Parolsl i asked Mr. Tripp to discuss the results of the recent indoor air <br /> Superintendent duality at the Coombs School <br /> 8.8 Indoor Air^Qualily Report- Mr. Tripp informed the Committee on <br /> Senior Environmental Specialist Marina Brock's findings. She reported that <br /> although there are no major identifiable indoor air duality problems in the <br /> school, she did suggest educating the custodial staff on proper maintenance of <br /> the classrooms. <br /> Mrs. Parolski asked Mr. Fripp to address the recent snowstorm damage at the <br /> schools. Mr. Tripp reported the following: at the high school—copper flashing <br /> damage on the peak of the auditorium; a fever pieces of vinyl siding and <br /> aluminum trim blew off; at the Quashnet School — broken windows; at the <br /> Coombs School — roof shingles blew off, ceiling time damage from snow that <br /> blew in the gable louvers. <br />
