7 k <br /> MAI HPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE/ REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 6, 2006 PAGE 3 <br /> Virginia O'Neil—Coombs School Nurse Office Support <br /> Joan Doyle—Quashnet School Special Education Teacher <br /> 8.2 Administrative Reports — Because the previous School Committee <br /> regular meeting was only two weeps ago not all monthly reports were <br /> received. The October meeting will include all reports received to date. <br /> .3 Enrollments — Enrollments as of today were included. They <br /> reflected the following: Coombs School — 484; Quashnet School — ; <br /> High School—971 for a district-wide total of 2,030. Thea are currently 42 <br /> Mashpee students attending Cape Cod Tech, <br /> Mrs. Grady asked to include in future monthly packets the per school <br /> student attendance on a monthly basis. <br /> 8.4 Draft of Comprehensive Plan Review — Mgrs. Bradshaw and Mr. <br /> Brown explained this document that was requested by Town Manager Mrs. <br /> Joyce Mason. The school department recommends the following <br /> Comprehensive Plan School Facilities updates: <br /> • Continue to update enrollment projections <br /> 0 Investigate and analyze open space areas that could be used for a <br /> school site in case enrollment trends change <br /> 0 Realize that a school building has a life expectancy which can be <br /> extended through proper maintenance, refurbishment and <br /> renovation, i.e., Coombs School HVAC and flooring <br /> Consider a feasibility student of a renovation of the Coombs School <br /> to improve energy efficiency <br /> Consider energy efficiency upgrades for the Quashnet School and <br /> lashpee High School <br /> 8.5 Mid-cycle Coordinated Program Review Report — Mrs. Bradshaw <br /> explained this three-}rear report which began was first done in 2003. The <br /> Department of Education representatives returned last year with the <br /> following observations. Special education had three areas in need of <br /> improvement which were; 1 the transition planning chart will be included <br /> in all student records ; 2 the Notice ofSchool District Action (NI) form <br /> will be sent to parents regarding meetings; 3 the special Education Parent <br /> Advisory Council SPAS will include more parents and document their <br /> efforts. <br /> 8.5 Medicaid Reimbursement Expenses — Mrs. Bradshaw explained the <br /> need to Dire a clerical person in order to save approximately $10,000 per <br /> year. Currently, this position is done in-house through. the Cape Cod <br /> Collaborative. This position would add around - .5 hours per week. <br />
