MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE—REGULAR AND FINANCE MEETING—MARCH 71, 2007 <br /> PAGE 4 <br /> XI. Report from Budget 11.1 FY08 Budget- Mrs.. Grady said meetings have taken place between <br /> Sub-committee the School Committee and other town departments regarding the FY08 <br /> budget. Mr. Thomas will attend a meeting on March 16th at 4:00 in Town <br /> Hall with the Selectmen. <br /> 1r. Brown explained an issue with the special education expenses and the <br /> state's "circuit breaker" aid for it. He said in November a projection of <br /> $969,000 was given, however due to an unexpected increase in out-of- <br /> district placements this projected number was increased t $1,200,000. <br /> Discussion followed regarding the coverage of this increase by circuit <br /> breaker funds and whether or not they could be used to aid in this <br /> unanticipated expense. firs. Grady said that as of January she was unaware <br /> f a possible shortfall in the special education budget, therefore, n <br /> additional increase was requested. Mrs. Grady expressed her dissatisfaction <br /> with this situation and labeled it"poor administration." <br /> Discussion followed regarding new initiatives for FY08 and the need t <br /> have them. Auer much discussion, it was decided to schedule a financial <br /> workshop which was scheduled for Saturday, March 17,2007 at 1:00 p.mil <br /> in the Superintendent's Office in the Quashnet School. <br /> X11. Report f the 12.1 personnel—Mrs. Bradshaw informed the Committee on the <br /> Superintendent following personnel matters: <br /> Kenneth C. Coombs <br /> Kimberly Clifford--Recess Monitor <br /> Carrie Ann Tom iewic ---Recess Monitor <br /> Desi nations <br /> Daren Hart—Coombs School Paraprofessional <br /> Ashley Cuba—Coombs School Paraprofessional <br /> Julie Jardin—Coombs School Recess Monitor <br /> Amelia Bingham—Indian Education Director <br /> Robert Costa—Cleaning Supervisor <br /> 12.2 Administrative Reports — Facilities Supervisor Bract Tripp informed <br /> the Committee of the latest Community Preservation Act (CPA) requests <br /> from the school department. They were: 1 high school track resurfacing; <br /> 2 high school synthetic turf; high school tennis court resurfacing. <br /> It was decided that the Committee would set their CPA priority listing then <br /> approve the projects listed above. <br /> 12. Enrollments — Mrs. Bradshaw updated the Committee with the <br /> following district enrollment figures: Coombs School — 418; Quashnet <br /> School—564; High School—954 for a total district enrollment figure of <br />
