He described the proposed project <br />is to replace an existing stone revetment with a timber bulkhead along the coastal shore where the <br />revetment now exists and reconstruct a timber wall to replace an existing stone revetment. It will <br />be a Navy style wall. He noted the construction area on the plan and the method of construction. <br />There is proposed mitigation with native plantings. <br /> <br />The Agent noted there is an open Order of Conditions for violation of cutting of vegetation and Mr. <br />Tavares has been hired by the owners to submit the biannual reports for mitigation which is going <br />well. He noted the proposed bulkhead on the photos. NOI <br /> <br />Resource Area: BVW, Salt Marsh, LSCSF, Land Under Ocean <br /> <br />Nate Jones, Coastal Engineering, represented the Applicant. He described the proposed project is <br />to remove the existing phragmites that is bordering the coastline. They are proposing to eradicate <br />this invasive species keeping within the guidelines of Mass DEP Wetlands Protection Act and the <br />Town of Mashpee Wetlands Protection Bylaw. He stated they will treat the existing phragmites <br />with herbicide which will begin in the late summer of 2018 and subsequent treatments will be <br />performed seasonally until the phragmites has been eradicated. This project also includes <br />resetting and extending an existing walkway area. It is proposed the existing pavers be <br />reconstructed at an elevation approximately six inches higher. <br /> <br />The Agent showed the visuals of the phragmites. He said there are areas within the phragmites <br />that contain native shrubs. He asked that the upland extent of salt marsh be delineated on the <br />plan. He also recommended an elevated wooden structure for the walkway and asked this be <br />shown on the plan. He also recommended moving the garden beds more landward because they <br />may currently be within salt marsh or bordering vegetated wetland. <br /> <br />No comment from the public <br /> <br /> <br />
