2
llrir.Taylor added that the other avenue would be to call it a capital request and put it into the
capital plan. However, that would forego obtaining that equipment for a year—the money
wouldn't be available until next July and them with installation, the equipment would not be
ready until next August.
Mr. Jeff Arnold questioned how big the generator is that Mr. Taylor has received the estimate
n. Mr.Taylor commented that it is 65KW,400 amp service,60Hz. Mr.Taylor Mated that
he was told it would take approximately 8 to 10 creeks to install the generator. Mr.Taylor
noted that it would be a diesel generator.
Chairwoman Goulart questioned Mr.Taylor on bow long this new generator would be
expected to last. Mr. Taylor stated that he would hope it would last as long as the building
does,which is 20 to 25 years.
Chairwoman Goulart asked what it will cost to retrofit the generator. Mr. Taylor stated that
the total cost will be just undek$30,000.
Mr.Taylor noted that the estimate he has received is from the company who supplied the
original generator. He added that he needs to get three estimates.
There was discussion between Mr. Taylor and the Finance Committee members concerning
finding used generators.
Chairwoman Goulart stated that Mr. Taylor should get the other two estimates. Chairwoman
oulart noted that she would like to get the opinion of the full Board of the Finance
Committee.
Mashpee toad stem:
Mr. Taylor commented that a number of yews ago,the ll ashpee road sy tein was valued at
$30 million dollars. He noted that the key element is the way it is funded. He pointed out
that most roads have a life expectancy in the vicinity of 30 gears. If you took the number
from 1995 in the amount of$ 0,000,000 and used the life expectancy of 30 years, you would
see that you would need$1,000,000 a year in order to maintain what you have.
Since the erly 1990's
Mr. Taylor noted that with the$1 million a year in the DPW budget, they do net have funds
in excess of about.$50,000 to$75,000 for roadwork,so they rely entirely on the
reimbursements from the'd'own's Chapter 90 money. The Chapter 90 money for the last
three years has been approximately$400,000;therefore,they have had a shortfall annually of
about$600,000.
He noted that there cones a point in time that he feels they need to be looking at a Load Bond
to improve and provide some amenities.
Mr.Taylor commented to the Finance Committee members that tin the near future they will b
hearing more discussion related to the possibility of some sort of a load Bond and some
projects delineated to be clone with than money.
He noted that there is a serious shortfall. There is a need to put some money into the budget
related to road work.
