Fire Station Building Committee <br /> Minutes 2 <br /> February 2 , 1999 <br /> FJPQRT OLF.IM AROM�T� <br /> Mr. May presented a design option for the storage of reserve response <br /> vehicles which reflected as a separate building on the design proposal. <br /> A pre-engineered building would house secondary response vehicles such a <br /> the brush breaker., ha rnat, merv, tanker,the whaler and ice boat. The metal <br /> structure is an inexpensive option that would allow for all of the departmental <br /> vehicles to be properly housed and readier accessible. <br /> The civil and structural engineering firm of Amm nn& Witney conducted <br /> preliminary site investigation of the intended project scope. <br /> The investigation did not give reason to conclude the existing fire station <br /> could not be renovated informed Mr. May. The renovation proposal <br /> reflected as Scheme A considers a vehicle maintenance and equipment <br /> addition off the apparatus raring. Housing for the ladder truck is also considered <br /> in the apparatus bay. The layout of the hot to warm to cold areas was presented. <br /> in the design option adjacent to the tura out gear room. <br /> The layout of Scheme A provides for all firefighter living quarters to be centered <br /> in the core of the building on the first floor of the facility. Four single rooms and <br /> two double rooms are proposed to house a staff of eight. There are four <br /> separate unisex restroom facilities. Four lockers are contained in each single <br /> room. Each double room contains eight lockers. <br /> . separate entry is depicted in Scheme A for the general public and staff; The <br /> design incorporates private employee parking in addition to public parking <br /> facilities. The committee suggested that a reception area be contained in the <br /> catch room for the general public as in the police Department. The fitness room <br /> is also considered on the first floor of this design option, <br /> The office of the Fire Chief,Deputy Chief, and Fire Prevention are contained <br /> on the second Boor. The administrative space and training room has also been <br /> designed to be housed on the second floor of Scheme A. A new set of stairs <br /> is proposed in addition to an elevator for public accessibility. <br /> The comm tt e requested the architect explore the option to revert the <br /> layout of Scheme A to face the south side of the subject property. <br /> 5 <br />
