BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES
OCTOBER 89 1996
PAGE Two
lv COMMUNICATIONS: Continued
C. Mass Library Trustees Association workshop which will be on the very
same day as the above in South Hadley, Mass.
V BUSINESS FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
A. M. Marsh explained that the September 18th meeting i was held a
the Mashpee Senior Center on Comprehensive Plan and Facilities was ably
represented by Helene DeFoe, Dick Shaughnessy, Anton Buschenfeldt and
M. Marsh. The meeting was scheduled for 7:30 p. m. and at 9: 30 they
were still waiting for the Planning Board meeting to conclude. By the
time the room was available for the Comprehensive Plan-, there were only
Anton and H. DeFe present. Helene had called and asked a couple of
Citizens to attend. Both of them arrived; one brought a friend.
Helene explained that she had stopped by the Planning Office the next
day and spoke to Frio Smith. She explained to him that it had been
very disappointing that something as important as the Comprehensive
Plan would be tacked on to the end of the meeting schedule. Eric. Smith
and Torn Find la had suggested to the Planning Board that they should be
holding a separate hearing for the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning
Board was not in favor of giving up an additional evening. to do that.
Helene suggested to the trustees that it might be helpful if a letter
carne from the board explaining that the library had people there and
that it .was very disappointing not to have the hearing as scheduled.
This was very important to the town. One of the things Brit mentioned
was. that if this plan should be approved, there could be impact fees
as es.sedfor our building.
B. Hp-to-date information on purchase and use of shelving: Anton presented
some ideas relative to the use 'of shelving in storage areas, one in
particular which had impressed him.
Cheryl explained that something similar to this idea had been used in
the safe in the wilding Dept, in the Falmouth "Town Hall. Cheryl felt
that this type. of shelv ling was excellent and it had almost doubled
their storage facilities.
Helene suggested that perhaps Cheryl could determine who the vendor had,
been since Mashpee would need comparison prices.
Anton felt that this would give us some ideas and a way to go. Until
they have some final figures on this project he does not need any
action from the Board on the decision.
C. Present status of air conditioner: Helene explained that she had discussed
the order with the vendor at the end of September. He would talk to
the s up p 1 ie r. She has not heard from him since thea. Now that they were
out_ of the air conditioner weather, there was not the urgency there had
previously been.
