renderings with me and we discussed the ways in which the building would be
accessible to patrons with disabilities. We are still at a very preliminary stage
with the drawings. I told them 1 would keep in touch and that we would be happy
to have them look over the working drawings to make suggestions for features
that would insure maximum accessibility. They were very pleased with the
presentation and sent along a follow up letter in June to thank me for making the
presentation.
Bridget Bontrager has been working on several collection clean-up projects. She
has recatalogued and relabeled the Parenting collection and revised the printed
video and DVD title lists for patrons. She is changing the computer shelf location
of school reading list books. Students will see a new department, Summer
Reading List on the computer catalog when they look up items from their lists.
Staff will benefit from the change in location because it will be easier to create
computerized lists of titles for volunteers to pull off the shelf at the end of the
season. Staff will store extra copies in the storage room, freeing up space on the
library shelves.
We had a problem with one of the library AC units. Robie's technician discovered
damage to the unit serving the Children's area during preventative maintenance.
The unit looks like ice had fallen from the roof and crushed the outer housing. I
asked that they provide a cost on repair and replacement. Joyce Mason has
some discussions with them about the cost because of the short time we would
be using this building. A senior technician came by today to look at the unit
himself. He was able to bend the damaged fan and the unit started. He thinks
we will probably be able to make it through the season with the unit.
