The balance of the February subcommittee meeting concerned installing
photovoltaic panels on the library to generate electricity. The Friends of the
Library have committed $75,000 for energy improvements ements in the building. GG
discussed the cost of the panels and it arras decided to go with the larger .2
Kilowatt system. The' architect confirmed that the roof would support that size
array. Both the HVAC and photovoltaic panels will be eligible for energy rebates,
which will significantly reduce the total cost of both systems.
I met with Leslie Morrissey, director- of the Falmouth Public .library, and Patrick
Marshall, Director of the Bourne Public Library, to coordinate our efforts on the
construction bond bill. All of us have contacted our legislators to ask their
support of X14455. A public hearing took place on February 27th. No other action
has been taken at this time.
The RFP period for temporary space closed on February 29th. David Burton and f
attended the opening. Two bids were received. The fiat was for space in the
building housing ino's Restaurant. That one was a bit small at almost 3,300 SF
(we were looking for 3.50SIF). That bid was for 2,500 S F. The .second.bid was
from south cape Village.for 2 adjoining retail-spaces on Joy Street. The South
Cape 'Village space has the better parking and easier access. At this time, 'the
bids are being.reviewed and the specifics of the bids will be discussed at the.nest
P&cc meeting.
The DPW ably moved the shelving that Falmouth Public Library was donating.to
us from their tem orary space. The DPW crew disassembled the shelving and
transported it back to Mashpee. Il ashpee Commons is allowing us to store the
shelving in the old Shav s building, pending moving into the temporary. space.
Mooring the shelving was a bigger task than I anticipated. It took the crew a day
and a half to complete it. I expressed my thanks for a job well done to Catherine
Laurent.
