under-served in our community.while we have seen ars increase in teen cards and users, it is still well
below what it should b . Both Sheila and Kari were enthusiastic about working together. They discussed
having Kathy come to the schools to meet and greet the students. She could let them know what
resources the library has which would interest teens. In addition, I have purchased a movie license from
Swank Motion Picture .This license allows us to do public performances of movies while remaining i
compliance with copyright restrictions. The movie license can be used with any age group but we plan
on Kathy offering a Teen Movie Dight in January. I'll coordinate with Kathy on the tiring of the program
and the school has offered to help publicize it among the students. I'm very excited to see a start to this
project. It had been on our expired Long Range Plan.Weve been able to improve the physical space and
now vire have an opportunity to improve the collection and programming.
The library has rec iv d its certification certificate from the Massachusetts Board of Library
Com m issi ners for the current fiscal gear. we had to use the accom m dation policy for the four's
standard for the first time be aruse the Iibrary dropped below 40 hours. our award was reduced 12%
due to partial compliance to the hour's standard. In the corning months, while the library looks for
director to succeed rye, it may be necessary to look at a temporary reduction in hours. Even if it were
only for a fever months, the library's certification would be based on that reduction rather than on-the
hours open for the rest of the fiscal gear. I have contacted Dianne Carty, Head of Data,Technology, and
Construction &StateAid for the M B LC to verify the number of hours Mashpee rust be open to
maintain certification. The minimum standard in our population group is 32 hours. Anything below that
would cause the library to be decertified. once certification is lost, it would take 2 years to-gain it back.
Please be mindful of than if contemplatin-g any reductions in hours. Loss of certification is a very serious
ste p,and would be a black eye to a com munity that has just opened ar lovely new library.
