A huge crowd for the magic show.
Marcus the Magician performed at the library on March 141h. A magic show was planned as the
culminating activity for the MCBA Book Club. Diane Kingsley (who has been assisting with the
book club) and I decided to hold the magic show on an afternoon when Mashpee students did
not have school because of a Teachers' Professional Day. Marcus the Magician performed for
an audience of 270! Not everyone was able to fit into the Events Room, but because it was an
hour long performance, some families left and others took their seat on the floor. After the
performance, it seemed as if everyone went into the Children's Room—it was busier than a
rainy summer afternoon! Fortunately, Claudia was working the Children's Circulation desk and
Rosemary came in to help me with crowd control.
Kathy Mahoney and I presented our Online Summer Reading Program Workshop on March 21't
in Chatham. This was the grant project we have been working on for the Massachusetts Library
System. Kathy and I felt very well prepared for our four and a half hour presentation, and the
positive feedback was reassuring. MLS will award us$3,000 to use toward professional
development and the summer reading program.
Once again this month I collaborated with the Mashpee Family and Community Partnership in
offering a parenting workshop at the library. Paul Melville presented "Parenting Toolbox 4
Dads" on three consecutive Tuesday evenings:
March 1st Workshop 6
March 8th Workshop 5
March 15th Workshop 5
