The GIS i also featured on the <br /> town's website-and gives the public the ability to qui.and analyze spatial relatinshi s <br /> in town. The GIS is.being used at official-town meetings as a tool to better understand <br /> -the issues.before them. In n additio -to these uses the CAIS is re ula 1 'tas <br /> . . - � fed with <br /> perf nning task specific analysis. and. neap making. - Some examples of 'his include <br /> cr atirig a map for the cons lervation commission to include-in a grant re u est to ur hase <br /> p. <br /> a gate to help protect new conservation land and assisting the 'own Manager's office in <br /> querying town owned land in a portion of tow. Other uutiat'ives include -making the <br /> software available to all town employees and then training these employees on how t <br /> use it. I "addition,,we are compiling a list of town ens to ees who will g - � it b given training. <br /> in the use of a handheld GPS system for capturing GIS data in the field. This will include <br /> things life new fire- hydrants, hiking trails, well locations -and dischar g e points, among <br /> other items. <br /> EXISTING SITUATION <br /> 1Creation of a town CAIS Committee (10-15 members attend montW meetings) <br /> 2) * purchased large format scanner(for archiving and linking scars to 61S) <br /> 3) * Town selectmen officially proclaimed `GIS ay" as November 15, 2006 <br /> 4 Organized 3 official GIS Day outreach events to be held across town, including <br /> A. A poster session at town hall <br /> b. A hands-on GIS demo at the senior center <br /> c. An -'extensive interactive series - <br /> of resentation and hands-on learnin <br /> r a <br /> aetl sties to be. held at the High School in 4 of their computer labs <br /> throughout the day. <br /> 5) Updated town parcel layers to match 2006.assessors data <br /> 6) Updated town zoning snap to reflect town nye&ting Shang es <br /> 7) Gave introduction to GIS session to all department heads <br /> 8) Scheduled GIS soft are training for all interested town employees <br /> .9) Fostered working relationships and data sharing situations with the following <br /> entities: <br /> a. VVBNERR <br /> . Cape Cod Commission <br /> c. 'Town of Falmouth <br /> 10 `.
