Ultimately, said agencies will <br /> dictate the appropriate number of units recommended for this <br /> project. A change in zoning will not mandate the approval of <br /> four o hundred units . <br /> Beverly Kane: In her opinion, the citizens of Mashpee are <br /> being asked to make an important decision regarding the future of <br /> the Town. The questions raised this evening will have to be <br /> answered in order to reach an intelligent decision. <br /> selectman Diniio clarified Town Meeting requirements of a <br /> two-thirds vote. The intent is to present a proposal at Town <br /> Meeting which will be supported by the residents of the Town, <br /> who have been given the opportunity to contribute to the <br /> proposal . <br /> Ed Baker: Made reference to an earlier comment made <br /> regarding environnnental questions being answered through certain <br /> regulatory agencies, subsequent to the change in zoning, as being <br /> unacceptable. <br /> Seabrook village Resident: Asked the Developer the reason <br /> for his request to change the zoning to include residential; is <br /> there not enough commercial interest in Mashpee Commons. <br /> Mr. Chace answered, the national retailers are very <br /> interested in Mashpee. The trend is moving towards this type of <br /> development . The Developer is interested in establishing a <br /> discount department store at the location; as well as office <br /> space. <br /> Paul Livingston, Mashpee .ver: Asked when answers to the <br /> questions raised by Ms. Kane and. Mr. Baler would be provided. <br /> Mr. Chace responded they are constantly providing answers, <br /> working with authorities in an attempt to perfect waste water <br /> treatment . <br /> Mr. Storrs responded the plant has been positioned as to <br /> have zero impact upon the Mashpee River; all data has indicated a <br /> lack of impact . The Developer intends to either treat and <br /> dispose of the effluent on its current site, if proven to have no <br /> impact upon the River; remove effluent from the Mashpee River <br /> Watershed; or establish a municipal waste water systema in <br /> conjunction with the Mashpee Sewer Cormnission. <br /> Mr. Chace responded to Mr. Livingston' s question by <br /> explaining the permitting process would expand over the next <br /> year, assuming approval of the zoning change; specific <br /> -8- <br />
