He suggested Mashpee Commons Ltd. <br /> Partnership owns an appropriate property for a Growth Center; and <br /> that the Town night consider preserving land .in an area more <br /> appropriate for Open Space. <br /> Selectman Diniio mentioned the concern raised by the Deer <br /> Crossing residents is the buffer between their property and the <br /> Mashpee Commons Ltd. Partnership proposed development. He <br /> suggested one way of addressing this concern would be through the <br /> context of Open Space. He also pointed out the significant <br /> number of names on said Petition to be three-hundred . <br /> Mr. Chace stated he had net with approximately fifty of <br /> the residents of Deer Crossing and that the majority of the group <br /> was in favor of the proposal . He also mentioned Mashpee Commons <br /> Ltd. Partnership is in the process of adjusting their Plan in <br /> response to suggestions made at that time, and that he is <br /> agreeable to continue doing so with regard to common green space <br /> areas. <br /> Mr.. Chace further informed the Committee of an agreement <br /> between Mashpee Commons and Deer Crossing, that commercial uses <br /> would not abut Deer~ Crossing property. <br /> Selectman Diniio determined the number of over-all housing <br /> units at final build out will be directly related to the amount <br /> of Open Space preserved within the project. <br /> Mr. Fudala mentioned the probable need for off-site Open <br /> Space as well and suggested it would be beneficial to determine <br /> the locations of Open space as soon as possible. <br /> Selectman Dinizio stated the basic issue that prompted <br /> people to sign the Petition is the perception that a very urban <br /> (dense) area will be created within Mashpee Commons itself . This <br /> concern being the reason additional. Committee positions have been <br /> offered to members of the public. He informed Mr. Chace and Mr. <br /> Storrs of the two-thirds Town Meeting vote requirement, <br /> suggesting a constructive proposal be presented to the Town for <br /> their~ support. <br /> Both Mr. Chace and Mr. Storrs said they were unclear as to <br /> which specific aspects of the Petition they should respond to. <br /> In response, Selectman Dini io recognized those newly appointed <br /> Members of the Committee for their opinions: <br /> Mr. Cragwell : Addressed the issue in terms of available <br /> remaining space within the Town of Mashpee. He expressed his <br /> opinion that the proposal will result in over-development of the <br /> land.. He took issue with the current steer congestion at <br /> Mashpee Commons- requested fewer units commercial area be <br /> constructed; concern for the future of the Town after <br /> development. He concluded by stating he agrees with the concept, <br /> - - <br />
