strengthen their sense of community. Mr. Frye further explained <br /> they are considering four areas around the Country, of which <br /> Mashpee is one. He stated Mashpee Commons is of particular <br /> interest by way of creating a sense of community. He noted that <br /> Mashpee Connors is very well regarded around the Country as a <br /> model . He stated his interest is to observe what is being done <br /> and note the effect it has on Mashpee. <br /> Mr. Frye informed the Committee that they would be returning <br /> in May for approximately four days in order to fila the segment <br /> n Mashpee; the host of the program is Charles Rayer, former <br /> Mayor of Seattle, Washington. <br /> Mr. Frye stated he would like to Confer with the Board of <br /> Selectmen in order to determine if filming at the May Town <br /> Meeting would be appropriate. <br /> Mr. Storrs clarified the documentary is to be an educational <br /> rather than investigative program. <br /> Mr. Cragwell inquired as to how the Town of Mashee was <br /> chosen for this project. <br /> Mr. Frye responded they had Conducted a search throughout <br /> the Country for communities that had "something to say" . e <br /> further stated the Mashpee Commons Development is fairly well <br /> known within the architectural and design Communities, and that <br /> Mashpee met all of their criteria. He noted the process being <br /> considered for Mashpee is fairly unique. <br /> Handouts-Updated Fiscal Impact Information <br /> Mr. Storrs provided various handout materials and an update <br /> on the fiscal impact information/background work. He also <br /> provided copies of the "Cape Cock Life,' article entitled, 'The <br /> Making of a Village-the Future of Mashpee Commons" , as well as <br /> Copies of 'Traditional Neighborhood Development--Street Design <br /> Guidelines" , prepared by ITE Transportation Planning. Mr. Storrs <br /> further provided copies of the "Open space Incentive Development <br /> Bylaw" , all of which have been distributed for review by <br /> Committee Members. <br /> Mr. Storrs informed the Committee that Mashpee Commons Ltd. <br /> Partnership has scheduled a Meeting with Duncan Woods and the <br /> Mashpee Sewer Connission for Thursday, April 2, 1998 at 7 : 00 <br /> p.m. , in order to address some technical alternatives to the <br /> treatment and disposal process. <br /> Mr. Chace interjected at this point, requesting the document <br /> entitled, "Mashpee Commons-Selectmen' s Subcommittee Report-dated <br /> March 10, 1998, Submitted by Mashpee Commons Ltd. Partnership" be <br /> marked and considered to be a Draft, as it is subject to change. <br /> -2- <br />
