The remainder of the area is designated for <br /> retail, a continuation of Steeple Street and Mashpee Commons. <br /> Mr. Chace stated he is committed to providing for local <br /> independent merchants in this area. <br /> At this point, the Town Planner interjected, explaining that <br /> the proposed Commercial Center amendment would allow for the <br /> individual smaller shops being proposed. The current zoning does <br /> not allow for this type of property division/ownership. <br /> North Market street-The base road is to be extended in order <br /> to meet the Fire/Police driveway which will be realigned with <br /> Job' s Fishing Road. References were being made to gifts of open <br /> space areas made previously by Mashpee Commons. Mr. Chace noted <br /> there would be few changes to this section, noting there will be <br /> fewer two-story structures in the com ercial area, as there will <br /> be a combination of one and two-story buildings. <br /> (The slide show presentation concluded at this point, 8: 35 <br /> P.M. ) <br /> At this point, the Moderator opened the floor for discussion <br /> and/or questions. The following speakers having been duly <br /> recognized: <br /> Gary Pearson-Inquired as to the why the Planning Board had <br /> originally voted to deny support of the zoning amendments being <br /> proposed; and the reasons for thein overturning Grote in support. <br /> The Town Planner responded on behalf of the Planning Board, <br /> explaining them had been no representative from 1 ash ee Coni ons <br /> present at the Planning Board meeting when the original vote had <br /> been taken. Since that time, representatives from mashpee <br /> Commons have attended the Planning Board Public Hearing of this <br /> matter, making a presentation for the request of the proposed <br /> zoning amendments to the satisfaction of the Planning Board. <br /> Mr. Chace noted Planning Board participation in the process <br /> being proposed byashee Commons has been sufficient . <br /> The Town Planner added that at the time there were Planning <br /> Board questions regarding waste water and traffic issues, which <br /> i .information was not available to then at the time they were <br /> required to vote. Those concerns having been addressed <br /> satisfactorily, the Planning Board reversed their vote on the <br /> matter. <br /> Mr. Chace invited members of the public to submit in writing <br /> any further questions, comments, or concerns they may have to the <br /> Chairman of the Mashpee Commons Advisory Committee, Kenneth <br /> Masters . <br /> The Moderator noted that all handouts available at this <br /> -10- <br />
