Library Building Project Update. <br /> Catherine Laurent distributed binders to each committee member containing background <br /> information about the library building project. The,binder includes a copy of the library grant <br /> application to the state; project manager Information; and Wisconsin Standards information. <br /> Steve cook i Fundralain . Steve Cook reported or his recent mee ng with Dave Burton, <br /> President of the Friends of the Library. Steve distributed to the committee copies of an overview <br /> prepared by Dare Burton, of the fundraising efforts by the Friends for the library expansion <br /> project. <br /> Stere also made the following points: <br /> -The Town has approved $3,500,000.00 for construction of a new library <br /> The Friends organization (fundraising arra of the Library family) has raised <br /> $104,000 t date <br /> The Mate legislature has passed Gov. F omney's library construction bill which <br /> contains$72,000,000 for library construction, of which $2,500,000 would be awarded <br /> to Mashpee. Tinning of the award Is indefinite at this point. Payment would be made <br /> over a period of time, not in one lump sum. <br /> Foundation grant applications are currently being coordinated and privately <br /> underwritten by Torn O'Neill. The status of these grant applications is not known to <br /> the Friends. It is unclear which grant applications have been filed, the amounts of <br /> the grants, and the status of those applications. Dave Burton advised that we should <br /> not count on receiving any money from foundation grants. <br /> shldn Gilbert—current status of Library Building Project <br /> Sheldon Gilbert made the following points: <br /> There are future fundraising events scheduled,, including the Artisans Fair on August <br /> 2&, and a Stakeholders Affair scheduled for August 20, sponsored by Buff Chace. <br /> = The original cost estimate of the library, based on State 'instructions, included a <br /> cost escalation of 5%for a 24 month period. This past April, the architect recommended <br /> a 10%cost escalation for a 30 month period. This would add another$850,000 to the <br /> original dost estimate for the new Jibrary, escalating the project cost estimate to <br /> $53600,000. <br /> 2 <br />
