Library Building Project Update. Catherine Laurent distributed binders to each committee member containing background information about the library building project. The,binder includes a copy of the library grant application to the state; project manager Information; and Wisconsin Standards information. Steve cook i Fundralain . Steve Cook reported or his recent mee ng with Dave Burton, President of the Friends of the Library. Steve distributed to the committee copies of an overview prepared by Dare Burton, of the fundraising efforts by the Friends for the library expansion project. Stere also made the following points: -The Town has approved $3,500,000.00 for construction of a new library The Friends organization (fundraising arra of the Library family) has raised $104,000 t date The Mate legislature has passed Gov. F omney's library construction bill which contains$72,000,000 for library construction, of which $2,500,000 would be awarded to Mashpee. Tinning of the award Is indefinite at this point. Payment would be made over a period of time, not in one lump sum. Foundation grant applications are currently being coordinated and privately underwritten by Torn O'Neill. The status of these grant applications is not known to the Friends. It is unclear which grant applications have been filed, the amounts of the grants, and the status of those applications. Dave Burton advised that we should not count on receiving any money from foundation grants. shldn Gilbert—current status of Library Building Project Sheldon Gilbert made the following points: There are future fundraising events scheduled,, including the Artisans Fair on August 2&, and a Stakeholders Affair scheduled for August 20, sponsored by Buff Chace. = The original cost estimate of the library, based on State 'instructions, included a cost escalation of 5%for a 24 month period. This past April, the architect recommended a 10%cost escalation for a 30 month period. This would add another$850,000 to the original dost estimate for the new Jibrary, escalating the project cost estimate to $53600,000. 2
