Fire Substation continued)
• Colors are almost identical to current fare station.
Water main bids due March 19. 6 or 7 companies submitted bids.
Landscape plan...Catherine shoved the landscape plan submitted. Everyone voiced concern that
it was overkill. Steve said Michael Talbot volunteered to take a look at the plan and hopefully we
can do-a simpler, scaled-back plan. Steve said for the front of the building we would de`rnitely
want to landscape,-but not at the sides or back. Cost for just the materials ofthe Landscape flan
proposed would be$37,000. Janice Mills suggested that maybe the voTech school should be
asked whether they'd be willing to do landscape. Consensus of the Committee was that the area
is woodsy, a lot of trees surround the building-shutting out sun, DPW has to maintain, so keep it
scrubby and low maintenance.
Invoices...Following 5-Mnvoices totaling$12,3 o 1.19 were submitted for approval for payment:
1. $21975.00–SEA Consultants
2. 6,500.00–Durland Van Voorhis
. 941.75 -Durla d Van Voorhis
4. 108.99 T CDw^G
5. 1,775.45 –Deli
Motion: Janice MiUs motioned that theInvoices totaling$12,301.19 he approved for payment;,
Joe.Brait seconded this motion; and it was unanimously approved.
Discussion
Gene Smargon addressed the Committee saying he has serious concern about the dump. He said it needs
a ire alarm system—at least in the main building. Catherine said they looked into this and, in fact,
submitted a request for a fire suppression syst6m that would cost about$40,000. It is on the capital
request list, but Town floes not have money f or it at this time, gene said why not get a simple heat
detector that could, alert the Fire Department. Catherine said she had consulted the Fire Department ars
was told that anything but fare suppression system was useless. Catherine said that they are supposed to
move the trailer awa r'from the building at night and then put it back in puce in the morin . She is
going to remind them to do this so that at night the trailer will not be parked near the building.
Next Committee Meetiu
Tuesday, April 1, 2005 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Adjournment
The rnee ng was adjourned at -.10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
,lean Giliberti
Recording Secretary
