h
f -
I
Page Thirteen
Mr. Roberts, *Maureen I think would like. 0 mean she has more
experience than I do. "
Mrs, Paxton,, "Well, it' s in here. That' s why, Ron. It, s
supposed to be our job and I don' t want to fight about it, Ron.
That' s. all. I 'm willing to take on Community School. It' s not a
eery difficult thing. "
Mr. Roberts, "I am, too and we've been doing that and that' s what
we've been trying to approve on these issues .but this 'Community
school issue is not something. . .I 've nearer heard the rumor so I
canit say somebody said it or whatever,. and I don' t really care. "
Mrs. Dunivan, "It' s frustrating to us,, to our School Committee
because all these things that are coming up ---- the accountant has
control of it, why aren't the custodians working at night* We
don' t need this. This is petty, this is childish. We' re adults
and we should discuss things like adults. "
Mrs, oaffyn, "If we don' t know what parameters we have, how does
Gus do
_ r. Roberts, "I don' t know how he does it. I know these issues
need t'O be resolved. "
Mrs.. Dunivan, 'Elizabeth, Carol Jacobson would like to speak, "
Mrs. Jacobson, "As most of us in the room know, the decision was
made combining the two departments might result in a savings. We
worked..' on i t. We thought it was going to work. It has never, if
my opinion, worked because there' s been one group after another
arguing against it. ' That' s in the past noir. Now we ' re sitting
here looking at finally having a Leisure services Advisory
Council. We also have the school Committee, we have a Board of
Selectmen and we have the residents of this Town. And no matter
what happens, if the Leisure services Advisory Committee makes
the decision that you want to keep the Community School or you
don' t want to keep the Community school. or the school Committee
says, and it' s rumored certainly all over Town that not only do
You grant it back you' re already got your director chosen. The
bottom lime here is that it has to go hack to Town meeting. Town
Meeting voted the combination and the whole thing has to go back
to 'down Meeting before any changes can be rade'. Each group has
o make up their minds what they want to do, how they want to
vote on it and then we' ll bring it back to the people of the
Town, "
Mrs. Dunivan, "That' s right and I 'm sora the rumors fly as they
do. 11
