MAS PEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - REGULAR MEETING. - JUNE 11, 1994 PAGE 4 6 *2 Food Service Update - D `. DeMoura told the Committee that the April profit before maintenance costs was $2 , 842 .73, Food Service Contract,.,..,-.1994-1995 - Dr. DeMoura recommended extending Canteen Corporation's contract for the 1994-1995 school year at the food service company. Contract terns would remain the same. Prices for school lunches, i.e. , student lunch, $1 .25; faculty lunch, $2 .25; and milk, $, 2 would remain the same until perhaps January at which time the prices would be reviewed. Motion made by Dr. Petti, seconded by Mr. Consa.lvi, to approve extending the Canteen Corporation's contract for the 1994-1995 school year and keeping prices the same, as noted above. VOTE: Unanimous Mr. Paxton then questioned whether performance evaluations are being performed as stated in the contract. Dr, DeMoura responded that evaluations are based on student participation which has increased from last year to this year. Mr. Paxton also asked if there was a menu advisory board. Dr. DeMoura answered that there was not, however, one would be established for the 1994-1995 school year consisting of parents, teachers, and students., A Principal's Repot 6 .4.1 Middle School - Mrs. Phillips offered kudos to Officer Doris Dottridc a and Janet Kraskouskas on their efforts during the D.A.R.E. graduation; "PeaceWeek" is ongoing,oing, Curls Softball record was 7 wins and 3 losses; Boys Baseball record was 5 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie; kindergarten Awards Day will be held on June 2, AIDS Dance on June ; Spring Concert for Grades 4, 5, and 6 set for June 99 Grade 4 will visit Plimoth Plantation on June lo; Semi-formal dance on Jure 10; Grade 8 class trip to Canobie Lake Park on June 1 ; Grade 8 Awards Day on June 20; Grade 6 field trip to Boston arbor George's Island on June 21; Grade 8 graduation set for June 23, and the last day of school will be June 24th. At this point, Mrs. Phillips introduced Mary Durham who presented the Middle School School Improvement Plan which i mandated by the Education Reform Act. Mrs. Durham outlined the School Improvement Plan whose mission statement is "Students will become confident and capable life lore learners, skillful and responsive communicators, clear and creative thinkers, and responsible and active contributors to their community. " Goals include "'Review, evaluate, and redesign the Student handbook, " to integrate student support programs within regular education classrooms, to improve
