There is a much <br /> heavier volume . <br /> The Library Assistant is also attending .L.A,M, S, network meetings <br /> which has to do with cataloging . The meetings are monthly and the <br /> changes are constant . You learn better ways to do things . <br /> Also, as mentioned earlier, she is developing a map of everyone ' s <br /> collections . There are code numbers which must be learned to identify <br /> information, This is all done as part of the .L. .M. S . membership . <br /> There is a membership fee . it costs $3, 000 per terminal per gear.. <br /> Helene said that if the Board looks at- Grade .8 on the P.A.P. Salary and <br /> Wage Classification sheet, they would find Admimistrativ Secretary <br /> listed . She said that she feels it is not a secretarial position as the <br /> skills are technical in nature. She said she is comparing it to the <br /> Administrative Assistant position. She would also like to add two hours <br /> to the job- so that she would have sufficient personnel at all tiniest <br /> The extra hours would not be on a weekly basis --- one week it might be <br /> four hours, another geek it might be "no"" hours . Toni commented that as <br /> a regular part of the job, they are responsible for opening and clang <br /> the bui-lding # <br /> With reference to the Library Aisle position, Helene said that it is not <br /> so much of an issue of pay as it is with parity. They are co pa ring the <br /> Library Aide to clerical positions . If upgraded, the incumbents would <br /> fall in the middle of the grade which is about seventeen cents an hour <br /> more. She said that if one is aware of inequiti s, it is a responsi- <br /> bility to address it. <br /> The Library Aide position deals with helping the public . That is why <br /> they are requesting the job title be changed . Joe asked about cross- <br /> training? Helene said that there is very 1.1ttle . Volunteers assist the <br /> circulation people . They are not doing anything with the Library <br /> Assistant or Director. They are specialized in nature and require <br /> training . <br /> Helene went on to say that they are looking fo.r five additional hogs . <br /> The Aide title does not accruately describe the job and that is why they <br /> are asking for the title of Circulation Clerk . She said that there <br /> needs to be a title which ..s more descriptive of what they do, Toni <br /> commented that Circulation Clerk or Circulation Assistant are job titles <br /> in other towns . <br /> r <br /> The job duties were addressed on the Library Aide job description . <br /> Helene said that the copy - machine duties are not as important , one of <br /> the most im por'tant . things is registering people and making sure they are <br />
