MASBPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE - SPECIAL MEETING - JANUARY 11, 1996 PAGE
5 .7 Grades 1-3 Progress Report Dr, DeMoura asked Mr. Feldman
to discuss this issue atthis time. Mr. Feldman said s-ome
teachers had difficulty making out cards for the top two
categories, i.e. , the #2 designation "exceeds grade
expectations"' seemed to be a stronger rating than ##1. Mr. Paxton and Mrs.
Lynch thought the Committee should be involved while Mrs.
Cook thought it was the responsibility of the
administrators. Mr. Paxton read aloud school Committee
policy IKA, "Grading systems" in which 'The school Committee
directs the superintendent to provide for the development of
a grading system in accordance with this policy. " ,
Motion made by Mrs. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Consalvi, t
change the wording on the- progress reports as follows for
the second marking period: delete the "Exceeds grade
expectations" under rating category # , and making
"Commendable## the equivalent to "very good work.
